Push

I can't have been the only one
That grew up without my mother
Gettin smacked around by Life so young
Using humor as a cover

Emotions skinned to brittle bone
They escape into my face
Can't hide a fuckin thing with Tone
It's in my eyes, not what I say

Ripped apart, stitched back up
Bad decisions set aside
I should be a bit more unbalanced
With an addictive axe to grind

This world owes me nothing
For the choices others made
To leave me bleeding, Love receding
My heart aches for them the same

For, with each new year, came new angers
And I relished every one
Now they stack up on my doorstep
Just to fade with the setting sun

I will be dammed if I'm expected
To remain on beaten shore
When my resolve and Will to Live
Have found a way Home before

There is no evil that can't be conquered
No devil in writhing heat
There is no pain that doesn't ebb
No Cancer that can't be beat

Perspective changes everything.
It matters what you see.
Sometimes it takes a second look
To recognize your Victory
