Sweet Madness

-~{ Sweet Madness }~-

Once not so very long ago, upon some softly caressing breeze…
I heard your whispered secrets, oh so many things you told me!
Of love, of life, of the stars and the moon in the skies so dark…
Slick with sweat, like a mad devotee, I listened and newly hark,
As one who is spellbound, for enchantment leaves little choice,
To the memories stirring within my soul, by your singing voice…
Which came to me unbidden, yet welcome by my wanton way.
Oh how lovely your spirit, that haunts me during the bright day!
How I want to hold you close, and whisper things grander still,
Than all the glories of creation, at which our minds might thrill…
Sweet madness; let me drown in you like the vastest of oceans,
That yawns wide before me, tantalizing my wildest of emotions!

The glimmer of your eyes, color more real than those I painted,
Upon the canvas of my heaven, in the places there appointed…
I can see it all in my mind, and there the celebration never ends,
Oh join in the festivities, my dearest; let us be more than friends!
The shafts of golden sunlight, pouring in where now I write on…
Bring to my mind a melody, that I might put this poem to song.
Will you sing it with me, dearest; that heaven might be moved…
To see the fruits of our madness, and the beauty of it so proved?
Let us make anew, a time just for us reserved from all history…
That we might revel in a golden age, and explore its’ mystery!
Setting sail in vessels powered by our wills, that never will die,
Upon a sea of magical, silvery hue: beneath a deep, azure sky.

Believe in the magic, and all things are possible with such faith…
I want to believe, and I see it when I imagine your smiling face!
They say only children believe in magic, in castles in the skies…
But they have merely forgotten, the truth behind their own lies.
Enchantment will exist, so long as hearts are willing to give in…
And believe in the power of magic, and feel that magic within.
Love is a kind of magic, and passion the energy that fuels it all,
So if I do play the wanton, it is to break through sorrow’s wall.
For why should there be sadness when the light is close at hand!
We have only to reach out and touch it, letting it fill every land.
And if land exists only for us to enjoy, then so much the better,
For we can always go and sail there: without too heavy a fetter.

I’ve been searching for an original spell; the old ones are done,
But together we might cast anew, a spell filled with fire and fun!
And so I play the wanton, to lend sparkle to the show to come,
Wherein we might be the stars, and the spectacle could stun…
Let the lightning strike the stones; let the arrow of cupid haste,
I offer up my breast to that bold arrow; let this not go to waste!
So long as our sweet madness protects us from earthly things…
We can savor a world all our own, and the fair joys that brings.
Home is where the heart is, so my spirit abides with your own,
Wherever destiny takes us, and wherever the wind has blown.
A fresh canvas awaits our hands, that we might paint so bright,
The masterpiece of our making alone, displaying all our delight!
