We Were More Than the Heavens Above
You called me bitch countless times
How could one forget?
Even though I felt our time was well spent
We never bothered investing in what truly mattered
I dragged you in my shitty vehicle
Incapable of traversing desert trails
In an attempt to astound you with stars and planets
Exercising that so called “investment”
We fucked, we kissed, in those shadowed dunes
Sand glazed lips and dusty chests
The moon at our backs
We were missing out
We came for the night sky
To look for shooting stars
And see how vast everything was
Out of reach, mutually felt I think
As the cosmos shifted into a different location
I knew why we ignored those initial intentions
We were more than the heavens above
Outer space destroyed our distraction
And our madness is what called us out there
How could one forget?
Even though I felt our time was well spent
We never bothered investing in what truly mattered
I dragged you in my shitty vehicle
Incapable of traversing desert trails
In an attempt to astound you with stars and planets
Exercising that so called “investment”
We fucked, we kissed, in those shadowed dunes
Sand glazed lips and dusty chests
The moon at our backs
We were missing out
We came for the night sky
To look for shooting stars
And see how vast everything was
Out of reach, mutually felt I think
As the cosmos shifted into a different location
I knew why we ignored those initial intentions
We were more than the heavens above
Outer space destroyed our distraction
And our madness is what called us out there
