Death Begins at Conception
Conjoined in the swirling lather of smeg
Most die soon after the joy of the lay
Blueprints infused between sperm and egg
Clean slates or copies, who is to say?
Sentence declared at birth
Value determined, justice delayed
Dying begins for what it's worth
Until judgement declares all taxes are paid
Destiny, after-birth
Eternal life gets born beneath earth
Ashes and dust lifted by wings
Some souls fall down, left outside the gate
Death opens a doorway
Tempting a seductive escape route
A reaping where no one gets out
Faith reveals self-confident doubt
Most die soon after the joy of the lay
Blueprints infused between sperm and egg
Clean slates or copies, who is to say?

AlisVolatPropriis8 (Rakhi Rudra)
Some say life begins at conception, others say we begin dying at birth, perhaps death is the only sure thing in life, after all, 1%'rs don't pay taxes and the 99% of us who do struggle to make sure they live in comfort and spare no exspense in the quality of their life. Population growth is the retirment fund of the 1%.

Re: Death Begins at Conception
Dark, It reminds me of my younger years. I love how the subject is obvious, and how the flow is so smooth. I don't agree with death being an escape route, nor dying every second, how we choose to live in this life (withering or growing) really determines another hell or heaven in the next.
I liked this, the first two paragraphs. Thought provoking

One of the things I like about you is you tell it like it is. I will say that each second we are alive is one second closer to death, which is really all this poem is about. We are given life to determine the after life and die. Revealing a seductive escape route doesn't mean that death is an escape route, but some are seduced by it to escape the trials of life. You challenge my mind, I like that! jj

But how can you say that one second of a breath brings us closer to death if tomorrow is not promised to either of us? Your logic sparks travesty...;)

because life is not eternal, only the after life is eternal, so as long as we are alive, what else can time be but one second shorter than it was one second ago? But we are not moving towards an end, we are getting closer to eternity. jj

I duuno, it all started because I heard someone say life begins at conception, and my mind just took it where it wanted to go. But I am not the one who decides all of this life and death stuff, so I could be completely wrong. I'll find out in the end, or will it just be the beginning?
