What Will Tomorrow Bring

Self quarantine
Empty shelves
At local grocery stores
No solace in
Sitting on toilet
Because fear of
Using up all the toilet paper
As Americans
What are we going to do
So many mixed views
Highly intelligent doctors
Not sure of what to do
The other day
Breaking news on the web
Finally a cure
Take a handheld blow dryer
Wet your face with a wet rag
Blow heat up your nose
Once temperature is over one hundred and thirty degrees
Virus should be cured
Yeah....
I won't be trying that
But I know someone will
The stock market is going down
Every new headline on the news
Another hard worker
Loses their job
For a couple of weeks
Or till they don't even know
The unemployment offices
Is getting overcrowded
They send people home
With a website
Because the total of people waiting inside
Went over fifty individuals in one place
The government promises stimulus
But it hasn't passed in the house yet
And what people had planned for their tax return
That went out the back door
Or they spent their money on something nice
Payments
They knew they could afford
But now....
Laid off, no job
Equals another debt added
To others
They try to forget
And people with money
In fear of banks closing
And handing out vouchers
Run to pull their money out
But get turned away
Because banks don't have enough paper currency
To distribute out
And sadly
Loved ones
Especially the elderly
Living in nursing homes
Or stuck in hospitals
Separated from family
In fear of
Catching the virus
But yet
In some facilities
They're housing infected individuals
Locked in the same place
Where this grandma or grandpa
Can't have visits
Because of the fear of
The virus spreading from the outside
I just shake my head
Because that do not make any sense
And on and on and on
Something new comes along
I just take
One day at a time
Pray before I go to sleep
That the coronavirus
Doesn't catch me
Because I choose not to wear
A mask over my mouth
And rubber gloves
On my hands
