Walking together
Don’t walk in front of me
I get lost inside my thoughts,
I'll pause to watch each flower head,
the sunlight on the roof tops.
I may forget I've stopped.
Don’t walk behind me
for if I forget and turn
and you should gaze
upon this face, then stone
will take my grace,
replace the way we are today.
My snakes, unable
to lead you away.
Why not walk beside me?
Talk gold with the corn fields,
of life and sun and rain,
I'll hold a mirror to your sighs
and listen
when the night winds cry.
We can carry all the weight
of stone behind our eyes,
pretend our journey must never end,
if you could just
be my friend.
I get lost inside my thoughts,
I'll pause to watch each flower head,
the sunlight on the roof tops.
I may forget I've stopped.
Don’t walk behind me
for if I forget and turn
and you should gaze
upon this face, then stone
will take my grace,
replace the way we are today.
My snakes, unable
to lead you away.
Why not walk beside me?
Talk gold with the corn fields,
of life and sun and rain,
I'll hold a mirror to your sighs
and listen
when the night winds cry.
We can carry all the weight
of stone behind our eyes,
pretend our journey must never end,
if you could just
be my friend.
