If your city has a panhandling problem
it really has a wealth distribution problem
that can be better fixed
with wage and tax policies
than by banning panhandling.

Author's Note
The city of Santa Fe recently posted signs asking people not to give money to panhandlers. I have never been so disappointed in this city.

I don't give money to people ... don't know what they will spend it on ... I instead take them in and buy them something to eat ... not changing the world ... but it's the best I can do ...

I respect that. I also give food when I have it, but I am happy to give a few dollars even if it goes to drugs or alcohol because that's what I do with my money. And you ARE changing the world one set-example at a time.

I agree that some people are at a total disadvantage. I do however think that we all need to empower people and provide them with help and VT or whatever else they may need. Human rights is a good thing, and empowering the disadvantaged is as good
