There Is No Off
If there was…
A switch
A button
Something
That would mean off
Let me at it
For in this mind
A hurricane blows
Thoughts
Scenarios
Constantly streaming
No respite no filter
It’s a wonder
There’s no explosion
Where brain matter
Is splattered
Against walls
Overload, meltdown
No vision
Red mist
Reality gone
Locked in senses
That can’t take no more
Release, decrease
Body shakes
Rocking to a rhythm
Trying to blot
Out the world
Around me
Breathe, breathe
I just have to breathe
A switch
A button
Something
That would mean off
Let me at it
For in this mind
A hurricane blows
Thoughts
Scenarios
Constantly streaming
No respite no filter
It’s a wonder
There’s no explosion
Where brain matter
Is splattered
Against walls
Overload, meltdown
No vision
Red mist
Reality gone
Locked in senses

Rocking to a rhythm

Out the world
Around me
Breathe, breathe
I just have to breathe

It might be a struggle now but when the understanding comes and he lets you in his world it will have seemed no struggle at all, we do love , feel just comes out differently sometimes

You know, as I was reading this, AP, I kept thinking about local and national agencies that would benefit from a book of your poems. it would demonstrate the intellect and capabilities in regards to critical thinking and writing of those with autism.
You have really burst from a shell and are expanding in consciousness through your poetry. It's an amazing thing to witness.

Not sure amazing but as you said you were thinking of a book. I have been just recently thinking of putting all my Autism poems so far written with hopefully more to fill such a book, but like everything else I do I think too much and don’t do

Set yourself a schedule, my friend. Balance and moderation lead to success! You can do this!

Maybe if I don’t on book terms and let the words flow when the occasion arises then it might happen before I know it, we will see how my mind deals with my thoughts

this spill had me taking a trip down memory lane with my Stepson at ages 3 to 5
often he'd have a meltdown somewhere, where not appropriate and swiftly i'd take off my jacket and surround him tightly with it and whisper to him the entire time i picked him up and carried him to the car. By the time we got to the vehicle he wasn't as manic but still............
After a couple of times of this technique, he knew he would soon be in the SAFETY & QUIET comfort of his dark teal blue (i let him choose the color he wanted for the walls of his room) room until he was ready to call out for me...........and then we always would chat about what happened (door closed).
i will always treasure those times as He taught me sooooooo many things about autism!
thank You for sharing You, here, Brother

There is an "off" ... it's called the FUCK OFF! Tell your thoughts to take a hike. Have you ever tried meditation - just focusing on a sound like the laundry dryer or the air conditioner and nothing else? It takes practice.

I’ve tried but found it hard my mind runs through scenarios even when I’m trying not to think
