Moreover, you can't even get off when you want to -- unless you take unhealthy extremes such as being suicidal (God forbid).

The saddle and reins help one to anchor securely for the rough ride, though, as he makes the best of the worst.

Love the concrete form, Cab!  It really emphasizes the impact of the ending.  Elisabeth Eliot, the wife of the great missionary Jim Eliot, said "In acceptance lieth peace." She was so right.  When we accept the situation we move through it; it's only the resistance  that causes pain and suffering.
