So, it was a baker who started the great plague of London. Maybe he was Dutch, since on March 4th 1665 Charles II decalred war on the Netherlands, defeating them on June 13th 1665 at the Battle of Lowestoft.
Of course, they got their own back the following year by starting the Great Fire of London, (in a baker's shop owned by Thomas Farriner, in Pudding Lane - not sure if he was Dutch too)
But the real action was the Brits and Portuguese joining forces to beat those bloody Spaniards.
For the literati, the "London Gazette" was first published, also in 1665, (Nov 7th). All-in-all, quite a year.

I thought the plague came from poor food and livestock
