That Unbroken Stronghold
Twenty plus years
He's worked a job
Twenty plus years
He's been married to his wife
But only seven years
He's been drinking alcohol
Just that little of time
Has taken its toll
Each and every year
Jekyll and Hyde is shown
Two months in rehab
Was the only bright spot he had
Seventy two days of sobriety
He boasted and bragged
He was done
But never changing his places
Was his mental deathtrap
After seventy two days
He went on a binge
Only two days
He claimed he needed
And soberness
He would take with pride
But after that
He went from a....
Somebody to a nobody
Got fired
Lost his car
And got divorced
But hey
He's stupid to say
Vodka has never left his side
Vodka gives him the love
He desperately needs
What a shame
No one to blame
Addiction is real
It calls your name
When you feel
No one cares
It takes your hand
Walks you down the aisle of marriage
Never divorcing you
Til death does its part
Unless you can breakaway
Some way or somehow
We all dealt with
Some kind of strange attraction
That others don't understand
But to us
The feeling is undeniable
The feeling
No man, woman, child, or pet
Can provide
Addiction
Only we can control
But do we ever
Want to let it go
