Sometimes dogs are better than people. I really love the subtlety and powerful subtext within the poem. Less is always more

One cannot control people or expect servitude from them ( unless one is very wealthy or in possession of a mind control device)... so one must possess a canine in order to boost one's narcissism ( if I'm reading the poem correctly ).
