No Set Path

Why can't I forget my pain?
Why is it driving me insane?
Why can't I find my way?
Why is it the same every day?
 
I'm all alone with nobody by my side
I'm right there no where to hide
My whole mind continues to divide  
My hope seemed to fail to provide  
 
I'm opening an unmarked door
I'm learning what my life is for
I'm writing my own internal lore
I'm questioning if there could be more
 
I'm a light in the endless night
I have eyes but I have no sight
I'm the flame that can't seem to ignite
I'm the confession you continually recite
 
The road is hard to find
The hardships can make you lose your mind
Even in the light you can be blind
As time passes you are just left behind
 
The story of an ordinary man
He's trying to make a plan
His troubles are from which he ran
His adventure never truly began
 
There is a storm about to arise  
No knowing of its true size
No time to even improvise
No hope I'm headed for demise
 
The rain will wash away all that's left of me
I will float just another piece of debris  
My future I can no longer see
I've lost my fight to fully be free  
 
You ask me if I'm feeling fine
I'm forgotten at the end of the line
I'm hoping for a word from the divine
I'm climbing a steep incline  
 
I hold my secrets in my heart  
My mind and body they begin to depart
My lesson never did impart
My journey never truly did start  
 
I'm told that time will reveal
But the truth decided to conceal
My road isn't very ideal
My will they decide to repeal
 
I travel with nowhere to go
My emotion starts to flow
My sorrow will continue to grow
My mind Is my greatest foe
 
I have no answer to it all
No way to break down that wall
Alone I'm just too small
All I can do is hope to stand tall
 
Without direction there is no way out
Without rain life will not sprout  
Without knowledge there is no doubt
Without a destination there is no route
 
We all fight the shadows all alone
We question ourselves don't say we don't  
We have the slingshot and we have the stone
We don't have to fight all on our own
 
There is no greater hurtful lie
That we are our only ally
That alone we have to try
We stop ourselves and continue to deny
 
Hope is not an impossible thing
Look at the happiness that the light will bring
Hear the voices as they start to sing
Quit holding on to the end of a string
 
Remember the moments that you have seen
Look at the world and see the endless green
Direct your life on a movie screen
Don't let darkness start to intervene  
 
In a hole you might lose all hope
Your sadness you may struggle to cope
You may be at the end of the slope
But fight and hold onto life's rope
 
Your story has a beginning and an end
It has a message that it needs to send
You may fall and descend  
But find the light and fight to ascend
