Desert truths
In the wet I imagine you on the back of a camel
riding North across the burning white
and in those dreams, vast as oceans, I imagine lives can live in parallels,
that I can grow a heart outside my own, wrap it in linens and give that parcel,
pristine and precious to you,
as I did then
without fear or foresight.
