I CAN hear you...

you whisper hurtful words
around the corner … down the hall
you think, “what she doesn’t know can’t hurt her”
but you’re not there to see me fall
cuz I know what you’re not saying
and I hear what you won’t tell
I see through your disguise
so I won’t buy what you’re trying to sell
I hear the hidden secrets
I see the guarded faces
I can read between the lines
and see between the spaces
I don’t need you to lie to me
or try to hide what you really feel
cuz I’m tired of all the fakers
and I’m yearning to know what’s real…

don't lie to me okay? I hate being lied to... like demi lovato said, "I'll take the pain, give me the truth, me and my heart.. we'll make it through..." I just want the truth...

It's a good poem, Kathy. You've done very well with the rhyme and the message is clear. I personally don't like 'cuz'; I feel it cheapens a piece of poetry, unless it's in the context of accent, etc. But, to each their own.
Just as many read between the lines, many more hear between the words. The core of lying is based in fear. The reason for that fear depends on each person. it could be something as simple as the fear of not being accepted for who you are, thus you lie. Or, it could be competitive jealousy which sparks insecurity; many who experience that feel they have to put another down to make themselves feel elevated. Then there is the fear of losing someone, and so on, and so on. . .
Lying is never just a lie; it's so multifaceted with underlying reasons, but with one common root: fear, which, of course, is the opposite of Love.
It's difficult to swallow, knowing someone is being dishonest with you. Especially someone you cared about.

i agree with your authors notes just be honest with me i know its gonna hurt but yet it too shall pass yet a lie lingers forever within the depth of the mind nicely spilled...respect
