Oh yes-
I screamed

as it

rushed
gushed

while I

pushed

and then
it was

hushed

lights-out.

we came-reached-left

within moments 1.

the death of a storm
the last blink
in the tail
of a wild comet

but with a tale
that something
would be born while
I-pause-we did

cheap born

a n d

while I got the cheque
for it
her phone calls started
and became
frantic

I smiled-thought-acted

within moments 2.

planning a surprise I barged in
with my gift
only to find her gone

faucet-running
water-rising

in the overflowing bathtub
there were shards afloat
that

swam
swirled
swooped

in the crimson ocean

my gift
fell inside the vertigo
as I saw some pulp
on my brand new shoe.

lights-out.
