Cat Naps

Sometimes when he sees me lying there,
He pounces on to the bed!
Climbing up to my chest,
Nuzzling at my nose,
Purring up a storm;
His sweet little whiskers tickle my cheeks,
And I scratch his furry neck.
He purrs delightfully,
Drool drips down his chin;
His eyes, glazed, in a euphoric daze,
He’s entered a kitty trance again!
Kneading my shirt into oblivion,
With his precious little paws,
And his razor-sharp claws,
Isn’t he the cutest thing you ever saw?
He knows it’s time to take a nap,
So he lies down on my chest,
Slowly blinking,
Softly purring,
As he settles down to rest.
Like a fuzzy, heated blanket for me,
With purrs that soothe my soul.
I am quite relaxed as well, you see,
I think I might take nap mysel…

Author's Note
A playful little poem, inspired by my cat, Snowball, who is ironically a black cat! This one's a little silly, I know, but I love the little booger, so he deserves a poem ❤️
It's surprising to me how some people think other animals are incapable of love. We share more with them than most people realize... they experience a plethora of emotions just like we do, although they are less complex. Just because their love is less complex than ours doesn't mean it is any less real!
