Many step parents will relate to that pull, especially if the real parent gives unwelcome input.

I have 6 kids kids that are biologically mine and a daughter who is mine in every way say for blood. Her mother is in and out of her life, on drugs, we can not predict when she will be around and when she won't. Shes an amazing little girl and I love her to pieces but she wants that same love from her biological mom. Its hard to see her hurting because of the lack there of.

Mother/father is not the womb or the seed that has created a child. Mother/father are those that are there when a child cries, when he/she is hurt or sick, when they are lost and need a word of guidance or confort. They do want their biological parents to do that. It's blood calling. But a time will come when they realise that true love knows no blood. You will always truly be her mother. I've been there and, like Didi3d, I've been rejected by my blood, because a "mother and her family" buried me, a loving father, under a pile of lies. But it's OK. Life can bring other people in. And, in the end, nothing is forever. Well done on you.

I appreciate your words  of encouragement Juvenalis66! I guess it just makes me sad for her to want something so badly that she should rightfully have in better circumstances. I hate to hear stories about children being kept from loving parents that want to be involved when so many are not granted that luxuary. Thank you very much.

It makes me feel so many things reading this. True unconditional love hurts more than anything else sometimes, when sacrifices demand to be made.
