Image for the poem Salome

Salome

In many pictures and the holy script portrayed,
a lusting king after a maiden provocative eyed.
Herod wanted her hence and dances the seven veils,
and promised her everything if she does not fails.

Perception of the individual kind,
where the boat of desire wants its own resemblance find.

Salome knew that Herod had imprisoned John the Baptist for treason,
and was aware of his fears to kill a prophet for the wrong reason.
After Salome danced before Herod and his guests at a festival,
he promised to give her whatever she asked suggestible.

She loved John from other shores with all what has been told,
where her feeble hope cannot accept that love of his character so bold.

She demanded the head of John the Baptist on a platter dead,
and Herod was forced by his oath to have John beheaded.
His spirit wants to be alive by visions long after life taken,
when lovers cannot be close for the same dream awaken.

Taking her known extravagances too often as display for attention,
recklessly never taken that responsibility as her creation.
