Image for the poem the mystery of words

the mystery of words

bend the words and make them bleed
so confusing it is, twisted one way looks like this
the other something else
it's all in the connotations
in which spirit you're listening to

do you ever wonder where your language comes from
where words first originated and why?
say for example the word covenant
would it surprise you it came from the word coven?

"To agree or to meet, covenir in French, is the etymological root of coven and covenant, the word coven for witches since medieval times, covenant from Christianity to describe the agreement between Elohim and Abraham, known as the Abrahamic Covenant, that all the nations would be blessed by the Messiah."

words are tricky business
learning the truth so overwhelming
it's so intricately woven with myths
so hidden it must be sought with a ferocity

I know there is one above me
but there is a great deception upon the land
I pray these words don't confound me
