if trees could see their
reflections across a still pond
sky blue light drifting through
empty branches
colorful leaves strewn
across the shoreline
drowning on the edge
trunks and twisting branches
reaching to the shore
longing for the foliage that
no longer belongs to them
weeping for what once was
i imagine

sky blue light drifting through
empty branches
colorful leaves strewn
across the shoreline
drowning on the edge
trunks and twisting branches
reaching to the shore
longing for the foliage that
no longer belongs to them
weeping for what once was

This is a lovely reflective piece, JeJe - it's all about transformation - and I can't help but wonder if there's a bit of metaphor in there in regards to human thoughts and emotions.

Wonderful poetry, jemac. Your imagery is beautifully - that final stanza really did it for me! :)

Sublime. 🙏🏻💖 I would love it if you would record an audio of this and send it to the podcast. I could see it a capella or with a bit of soft music playing, perhaps just the sound of leaves tousled by the wind. If you would be amenable, please include the title and your screen name and send to:

Daniel, thank you so much for such thoughtful remarks ♡ i only have my phone at the moment and am not completely sure how to an audio file .. I would enjoy sharing .. if you could share tips in that regard, I would appreciate it .. or I'd be willing to give someone else the podium and mic.
Thank you in advance,

It is my sincere pleasure Jeje. I record on my laptop, using Audacity free software. There is vocaroo online recorder, which I used before Audacity. If you record and it doesn't sound great because of background noise, we have tools, namely through Audacity, to clean up the sound, so don't worry about that. Here is a link to vocaroo.

If you would rather one of us record your write, perhaps Missy, myself, Gahdess Worship or Josh, we can do that also. I think such a superlative, soulful reflection would be a perfect addition, a peaceful oasis, between interviews and my rambling Spotlights😅.
In kind resonance,
Daniel

My Friend,
Such engaging / captivating personification! For me, trees represent symbols of Life...having souls of their own! And, as previous poets have commented, your strikingly vivid imagery truly enhances this aspect for me! I find this piece to be both poignant and wistful.....and truly enjoyed the read!

Oh, thank you so much DarkEntrantress .. i wholeheartedly agree ... there is no doubt that trees have souls as high as the sky and as deep as the core of earth herself ... we can learn so much from them if we weren't so quick to cut them down, or worse.
I appreciate your thoughtful comments!
