The Blues
More than a few people suffer the blues during the holidays
While we enjoy our families, somebody's not feeling as gay
They're unhappy and trying to find a way out of their funk
Doing anything to numb their pain such as getting high or drunk
They've sunk to lows, where they've been before, but know not how to get out
Feeling punch drunk from life's lumps dumped during heavyweight bouts
Mind full of doubts about the route in which they're traveling
Some contemplating pursuing dead ends to relieve their suffering

Working in the hospital and seeing how people behave when they are sick and alone has to be the perfect setting for this poem. Thanks for sharing, it was hard to empathize this Christmas.

For me the holidays feel numb and full of pain all the same. I get progressively better at not feeling down about it but I had a lot of weed to help with that. I feel this.
