Naked On My Bed
It was after we had finished making love
That she lay there naked on my bed
So I watched her quietly appreciating
Composing a prose in my head
It was in that afterglow when I admired
The sensuous curves, the nape of her neck
Down the slope of her back, waist, legs and feet
Especially right around her shapely derrière
The way the light entered through the window
Captured a lovely intimate portrait of her
Bathing her with a warmth of sensuality
Caressing her lightly I made her purr
I wished I painted something impressionistic
But my words can sometimes be too surreal
As her body lies al fresco, naked on my bed
Embedded in my memory and perfectly so real

Thank you Sky. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it goes beyond the physical when we perceive with emotion.

I was thinking while reading this about painters such as Modigliani, who seemed to capture that light of a woman. The admiration you write of infuses this poem, Wally. I do hope she is gifted with it.
Thank you Ahavati. I think in the afterglow the senses become heightened and we see things in a better light. I've seen some of Modigliani's example and know what you mean.
