Acceptance
fat snowflakes fall
heavy
outside my window,
riding their own airstream
across the rapidly dying grass
I chuff at the irony;
my breath fogs
the glass
~time stopped~
but the world didn’t;
acceptance is a bitter pill
that struggles to pass
my teeth;
swallowing is inevitable
because I can’t breathe
unless I open my mouth
my laptop beeps behind me
reminding me
that the world
will have to
go on;
before turning off,
I write our initials in the mist
with my finger
you + me
one more time
heavy
outside my window,
riding their own airstream
across the rapidly dying grass
I chuff at the irony;
my breath fogs
the glass
~time stopped~
but the world didn’t;
acceptance is a bitter pill
that struggles to pass
my teeth;
swallowing is inevitable
because I can’t breathe
unless I open my mouth
my laptop beeps behind me
reminding me
that the world
will have to
go on;
before turning off,
I write our initials in the mist
with my finger
you + me
one more time

This is a great piece of something, Luna. Seriously.
In acceptance lieth peace. And sometimes it takes a lifetime to swallow that pill.

Agree with the assessments already made. This piece is very organic, by which I mean, it seems to have arisen quite naturally, effortless in it's grace and pure distillation of wisdom. A sense of the natural decay of all things comes across to me with the kind of bittersweet ardor of Neruda.

Thank you, Daniel. I often feel that organic expression makes the best art. For me, it’s at least the most honest.

Dear L,
Acceptance is a great big huge bitter pill to swallow. Alongside of forgiveness it seems an impossible thing to achieve in terms of human behavior and yet...
“~time stopped~
but the world didn’t; “
Phenomenal expression to capture a feeling when one receives news that’s life altering and not in a good way.
Well penned!!!! H🌷

Heavy-snow-write
Question, do you ever feel like someone or something has been lost to you... accepting that... only to find that in conclusion - nothing and no one - was lost at all?
Also, do you play drums? There's a lot of flow like music with your writing.

This is so beautifully expressed, Luna ❤️.. Life goes on, and doesn't pause for anyone, even when we are hurting.

Shucks.
It's odd to realize that the only blizzard-like weather you'd write about now would be spawned from only memory. Odd, but good... and warm.
I didn't expect such an ending as you weaved into the images you conjured within me. A delight warm enough to melt such snow.

The feel of the cold, the bite of the wind, the numb and frozen fingers and nose - all burned into my brain permanently now. I’m happy to write of it as a memory from this point forward LOL! But, you’re right that it’s bittersweet all the same. Thank you for coming back to read this one; it was a pretty pivotal moment for me.
