she weeps bitterly
her children do not listen
hardened hearts know best
truth cannot be found
amongst the darkness within
the light has gone dim
the truth is spoken
but her children's backs are turned
away from her voice
she weeps loudly
oh if they should only turn
a flame would be seen
and they would return
home with loving arms waiting
to embrace them all

The pain in this feels very real and I think this is the thought that carries it through to the end. As a collection of haikus, there are a couple of syllable counts that are out, however this doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the piece.
