All the wrong places

I was in love once, and i thought we'd never end.
But then one day, you told me it was all a ploy;
That you didn't love me, and never wanted to see me again.

I begged and pleaded, because you were my one true lover boy.
I started to look for love in all the wrong places,
In bars and in warehouses, on corners and alleyways.

Anything I could do to see your face.
I knew it wasn't healthy, what I was doing.
But you were gone, and that made it okay.

I looked for love in all the wrong places,
In men's checkbooks, and in razor blades shaped like your hands.
You'd left me, but taken my soul with you.
And because of that, I looked for someone to replace what you stole.

I was in love with you once, and it was beautiful,
We loved each other, and then one day, it was gone.
You'd broken every part of my soul, and left me unnatural;  a black hole.

I was looking for love in all the wrong places,
Anywhere or anything I could do to see your face I did.
You broke me down, but what could I have known,
We were just fucking kids.

I'm looking for love in all the right places now,
It wasn't an easy journey, but I picked myself back up,
Glued all my pieces back together.
And God damn you for leaving the way you did.
