How it is felt
I used to think that love was felt in the heart. I used to believe that you would know you were in love by the way your heart aches in your chest when you hear his name. Or how much it pains you to be away from him. But as time goes on I realize that love is not always felt this way.
Sometimes love is felt in watching the smile on his face. It is felt by the shivers that sink into your skin as he traces your body with his fingertips. Sometimes love is laughing at the fact that he always falls asleep in the bathtub. And sometimes love is wanting what is best for someone even if that is not you.
I used to think that heartache came from breakups. I used to think that broken hearts were felt in old memories, sad songs, old habits. And this is true. But heartache is also felt with missed calls, unspoken words, and crossed lines. Heartache can be felt when he traces your body with his finger tips like a million times before and you are left feeling...nothing.
