Saw A Rose
I saw a rose
A solitary stunning rose
In full bloom
I thought of you
It was a wild rose
Its beauty laced with thorns
Fragile with bite
Reminded me of you
In how your passion is from your soul
But burns fiercely
I plucked that rose
Brought it to my nose
Smelled it
Like I smell you
Tested its soft petals
As I have often wished to taste your skin
Its softness like your hair
Its beauty like your eyes
The eyes I'm often lost in
I have imagined many things
Just snuggling into you
Drawing your fragrance into my breath
Melting into the aroma of you
My floating spirit touching your being
So delicate
So beautiful
Tasting my true desire
In a moment that will last forever

it is. beautiful. the wild rose, for all its thorns, often smells the sweeter and producers better honey than its cultivar-cousins.
i was left with one small regret: the rose was plucked, and so will shortly die--even if the memory of the moment doesn't. just seems a shame but the visual and allusion feeds into the poem so it works anyways. :)

What a lovely inspirational verse, AP. I love that you referenced wild rose vs just rose - it adds an element of freedom in growth and appearance.
