Euthanasia

Wife, where are you
Can you see me?
I can’t see you
Please come nearer
Hold me my darling
Let me die in your arms
My woman, my wife, my friend

Help me I want to go quickly
Out of that door
The door that swirls darkly
Inviting me away out of here
To a land, perhaps Eden
I just want to go
Allow me to leave now

I have done my part
I lived my life
I have sowed
I have reaped
I have multiplied
I have worshipped
I have blasphemed

And now I want to go
Leave this tired husk
This body honeycombed
By death
To keep it alive longer
Keeps me in screamy fear
For I no longer want it

Wife when they come with the needle
To make me feel all better and well
Tell them to plunge it deep
Tell them to empty it up
Tell them to add some more
Just so I won’t wake no more
Just let me peacefully go
