Image for the poem death was never more final

death was never more final

trace the pain within the ache
find its heartbeat
erase the feelings that mutiny

who've left you holding your sides
rocking back and forth inconsolably
biting your lips trying to stop the tears

fearing if they escape
the world would hold too much sorrow--
for the sun to rise tomorrow
to shine on the brokenhearted

so you choke back the sobs--
telling yourself half-truths
he'll be back then we'll work it out
and it breaks you these lies

as the last bits of hope--
are snuffed out by sarcasm's truths
and the terrible irony confronts you
you know you did this

he's gone for good
death never closed a door as final
