We’re All Mad Here

Do you think that you would know
if you’d lost your mind?
For if one did go crazy
I’m sure they’d miss the signs.
And if indeed there’s “no one home,
yet all the lights were on”,
I think it'd  be fairly questionable,
In whose home might one belong?
Certainly if I feel perplexed
by the loss of such a thing,
that in itself should then disprove
that which I’m pondering.
So, surely as I’m sitting here,
racking my functional brain,
I must exist inside myself.
There’s no way I am insane.

Author's Note
Any true poet knows what I am saying in this poem. Hey, we’ve all tried to tip the scales in this inner struggle, am I “normal”, or am I batshit crazy??? I do believe I must have maybe a bit of both.
