Afternoon Scrolling
That crisp autumn air
seeping in to chill
the broken screen door
still flaps in wind
still haven't fixed it
nursing my trauma
in any escape
these silent afternoons
we've all shut down
peering into
this window
of technology
drifting from those we love
for what can we say
if we are always entertained
seeping in to chill
the broken screen door
still flaps in wind
still haven't fixed it
nursing my trauma
in any escape
these silent afternoons
we've all shut down
peering into
this window
of technology
drifting from those we love
for what can we say
if we are always entertained

hugs dearest Tender One
I come here when people in life disappoint
back and forth in that endless search of a moment
a connection...
sigh it happens but not often enough...
I'm happy today I went to a party
and this young guy made me smile
by doing a sexy dance walking up to me
then by hugging me...
I had a moment :)
we will have more dearest Tender One...
great write...
love Brenda 🌹

Happy that you were able to have that moment. You hit it, spot on. It is that connection we seek. The creative mind can lead to that isolating place, sometimes crucial to complete the thought. But when we come up for air, it is what we greatly need. Appreciate your thoughts on this write. And I do know that it will return, probably when I least expect it.

You nailed the feeling behind this, T. It takes over & consumes those empty spaces, searching for contentment. Even if we're not lonely, this thing consumes us... So often dependent on the adrenaline rush... depending on what kind of scrolling. 👀

You really got this write, I see. Truth is, it was all over the map scrolling. That instant need to occupy mind with anything as the day was thwarted and I really had no other plan. Yes, the day just kind of ran away and little was accomplished. But I'm not going to get too down about it, after all, it is a day of rest.

I enjoyed that perspective. I didn't see it in the beginning, but a connection is being made as it travels from mind to keyboard.

I see you totally got this. That verse would have been a fitting conclusion to this poem.
