What I have learned
of Friends or frenemies
depends solely on actions
A friend does not manipulate emotion
to mental detriment
for personal reasons;
nor entertain rumors
or fans discordant flames;
but, listens instead—
offers alternate perspectives
creating space
for peace to breathe
Think about it this way. . .
vs -
Did you see what s/he wrote?!
Like, OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just KNOW it was about YOU
or, ME(ALL ABOUT MEEEEE)!
Or US!
When in actuality—
it most likely wasn’t
People have their own lives
and experiences to write about
Dramatic people
will always gravitate
toward friction—
if they don’t initiate it
first, for attention
All anyone need do to learn
the true caliber of a person
is quietly observe;
be aware who strikes a match—
lights the fire, who gravitates
confronts, participates
siphons the energy they crave—
killing momentarily
the misery of a grudge
they will not release
through perceived revenge
that only returns to haunt them—
again, and, again
Friendship is not measured
in battle calls by trolls
nor cyber sister flame warriors
sharpening their tongues
with vitriolic gossip
It’s a balanced resolve
when your back is turned—
adrift in the dark
lacking insight—
it’s not stoking the inferno of hate;
but, strength and calm logic—
just one ounce of sedate hope
placidly guiding you out
Then, you know what?
Once that lesson is learned,
it’s your turn to teach another—
someone adrift in the dark
with their back turned
And you can only do that
through actions, not words

I agree with this, yet in some situations there is and qoute toxic friendships were neither is toxic but combined it is so yes slow friendship is best. Also though nothing wrong with seeing and calling it for what it is. No names to mention but ive had that and they are a good person through and through yet language barriers and things cause conflict that drains it to the bad. So its not that ill bad mouth the one or say they tryed to wrong me in any way but same extent it was to much explain and unable to get clear so best to drop it let it go so they can continue to be happy and prosper same as i without conflict

My father always said that when a positive and negative collide, one is destined to change. . .this is when the positive needs to distance themselves before becoming negative.
Thank you for your thoughts, Liam. They are appreciated.

What I have learned is that you never fail to deliver on absolutely stunning poetry. There is so much going on in this - it's bananas with rhyme, assonance and consonance. Bananzanance. And then there's the message. All we can do is pay the knowledge forward.

The depth of this amazing poem goes beyond philosophy...down into the spiritual A...and beautifully read indeed. Aristotle said that there are three types of friendship...utility...pleasure...and most importantly, the good...and the good is hard to find and is so often confused with first two...perhaps we are not training our children or each other in the "Art of Friendship".

Unfortunately, we don't train our children in so many things, Harry. Particularly morals and values.
Thank you, as always, for such astute observations. They are much appreciated, my friend. ☺

Dear A,
This needs to be required reading in every jr and sr high school and then again in college and then as a biblical amendment.
I so admire the effect of your work. It spills soft, soothing and peaceful. I may have said this before, apologies for any repetition. I aspire to achieve this some day. The message is beautiful and what should be as a human race. Bowing in humility! H🌷

There is so much toxic shame afoot in this world that it is a wonder that we can find anyone who does not act on pretense or create conflict between others in order to avoid dealing/accepting their own existential pain. Great write Ahvanti.

I just went to the Church of Ahavati and learned some truths. This was enlightening, practical and spiritual to a degree. Glad to hear your voice and the way your just presented this.
I'll be coming back to this.

I like the Indian Buddha as the symbol of tolerance and slow lessons taught by observance. This is so true how you described over dramatic people. Writing is a great way to channel drama into something more productive, I think. Your advice has a lot of wisdom..

Thank you, PR. Yes; observance and experience are the two greatest teachers; the former being a bit kinder than the latter if we have mastered patience.
Over dramatic people are such an energy drain. One fake friend who encourages drama and discord does more damage than five enemies. That's an old proverb my father taught me. It's true too.
I appreciate your insights always.

Now this
Is pure gospel
Pure truth
Pure balm for the wounded soul
Fantastic
I also think it goes well with Crimsin's "Naturally"
But you have penned a master work

Indeed, Robert. I pray every morning those who perceive me as their enemy ( because it's simply a perception ) discover their own purpose; and, from that purpose arise goals; and, from those goals arise focus which enhances their own purpose in life vs busybodying and gossiping.
Thank you, much appreciated.
