Could never be different

Hi, Mel. Great to see back and at it.

I found the final stanza particularly intriguing

"No rescue will come
we cannot be saved
from who we are
our past is engraved"

It made me picture life bookended by a pair of engraved gravestones.

For those that can actually afford burial costs these days, we can have our marker engraved with something special that says a lot about the life we lived.

I think it's best to look upon the past the same way - choose to be in control of our perceptions, find a profound way of viewing the past and chisel it with a saying like "Born to rise above whatever circumstances seemingly pulled him down"

Thank you for the welcome back and for the read.  Your response is always appreciated. I have been taking a course on mindfullness. I am looking at an idea that was introduced as "Radical Acceptance". It is practicing the acceptance of events as they are, with your heart, mind and soul. Not judging them by any means but realising they just are what they are. We cannot change the past. I hope that is in line with the poem. lol

It continues to go on and on and on
Ignited by a unheard thought

Mel: the unheard thought can not be judged.
It has no contingency no mistakes.
Truth is something that we as people choose.
This is true this is false.
We can  manipulate and monopolies what is true.
Why can’t we have what we want right now.
You see right now has already pass.
We have lived so many nows.
We are  echoes of an unheard thought.

I found this write both engaging and intriguing because it left much open for personal interpretation.  

It is true that our past is engraved and cannot be changed; however, from that engraving comes new pages with wiser engravings!  Our past is the only avenue we have of changing our future.  And we alone can save ourselves ( perhaps with the help of some few good friends ) by choosing to change.  No one forces that upon us but ourselves!

Along with mindfulness course, I am reading "When Things Fall Apart" - Pema Chodron
Possibly too much at one time LOL!
Anyway...She explains, with a Buddist view, that our past is what it is. Wishing or praying for it to be different will not change anything or who we are. I do not think the idea is that acceptance means we are stunted but finding a way to alleviate our suffering by accepting it just is.

I thank you very much. The fact that it reached you in some way is wonderful.  I am working on my acceptance of the past. Recognition that I can't change it. But, I firmly believe I am better for it.
