Pushed Sides

Pushed the plow behind the beast.
The toiled harvest may they feast.
He’s a generation as the last.
For the generation when he’s past.

Pushed no more the books and grade.
The summer sun helps them fade.
An abruptly ended September.
In rubble dust and glowing ember.

Pushed through neighbors gathered round.
News somber, angry and profound.
Soon the madness of the world.
Shall upon their land unfurl.

Pushed him self to be his best.
During basic training’s grueling test.
Answering his countries call.
Willingly to give his all.

Pushed again to save their home.
That they may be again alone.
Strike before they attack.
Give them reason to go back.

Pushed into an empty void.
A band of brothers are deployed.
Combatants sought where they hide.
Preclusive to identify.

Pushed the plunger on the switch.
Explosives buried in a ditch.
Through a hail of burning lead.
To his home they all had fled.

Pushed away by corporal’s hand.
Through he instead the fragments land.
Smoke and cries fill the air.
The cursed revenge is what they swear.

Pushed together against the door.
The hinge and lock won’t take much more.
Desperation on both sides.
The entrance breaks and opens wide.

Pushed their blades as they fell.
Their hate and fear now served them well.
To lastly see each others face.
And follow death in its embrace.

Pushed up flowers marks their grave.
For lives lost and for lives saved.
Vengeance in a spirit taken.
And another’s family that’s forsaken.

Pushed the tale of truth and lies.
And never see through others eyes.
For paradise shall never tell.
All heroes trod its path through hell.
