It's complicated! (eg: 'we have a democratic mandate to deliver Brexit. To not deliver it would be undemocratic'). It's so layered with half-truths, it's hard to tease apart. Badmalthus recently reminded me of Thomas Jefferson's point that it's merely mob rule when a 51% majority vote takes away the rights of the 49%. Brexiteers/Remainers construe the vote to their own agenda. I'm not sure what the solution is. The only thing the vote implies is that the country is split in an indentity crisis.

Thanks for the comment, Josh. I had the phenomena of fake news at the back of my mind when I wrote the senryu ... As to the Jefferson quote, wasn't he talking about the electoral college system?
