No More
I've tried to fight the pain inside
but nothing seems to work
So today will be my final day
the end to all this hurt
I can't escape this misery
or hide the way I feel
So Death is all that's left for me
the only thing that's real
Is there anyone who hears my cries
or are they silent shouts
Does anybody see my pain
or know what their about
Will Death relieve this tortured soul
and set my spirit free
Or will I be a shadow
of the man I use to be
Only time will truly tell, though
Nothing seemed to work
So today will be my final day
the end to all this hurt
but nothing seems to work
So today will be my final day
the end to all this hurt
I can't escape this misery
or hide the way I feel
So Death is all that's left for me
the only thing that's real
Is there anyone who hears my cries

Or will I be a shadow

Nothing seemed to work
So today will be my final day

Re. No More
You certainly have the option to exit this life ( and you won't burn in hell for it either ). We are given free will to choose how we will live, or, in certain cases, die. Happiness is also a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy. Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you. Gratitude for the present moment, in all its pain, is the first step toward it leaving.
I hope you choose the latter; however, if you do not feel like you can, I encourage you to contact the National Suicide Prevention Line where someone is available 24/7 to speak with you. You are not alone:

Re: Re. No More
I agree, it is hard at times to see past the darkness. At the time of writing this, I couldn't, but knew eventually it HAD to pass. Thankfully, after years, it did and I got to continue my life. I would like to thank you for reading and commenting, I appreciate each one.

Life is a battle, no doubt. But strength is acquired through those very battles. As soldiers.....which each of us are....we fight. At times, it seems the fight will be lost, but for me, I don't know how to NOT fight.
Thank you for the review and I hope you find that peace....it IS out there, but YOU have to find it and never quit until you do.

The greatest battles are fought within, but not really. By picking the side you want to be on, you automatically take the fight out of the other side.
You can't praise and condemn yourself at the same time - you can only do so in a linear fashion - praise, condemn, praise, condemn. Stand your ground and don't cross the line - praise, praise, praise, praise.
It will take some practice, but you'd eventually get the hang of it.
On another note ... you are a very good writer. Your verses are tight. You aren't rambling incoherently, but instead demonstrate solid focus despite the nature of how you feel and what you are writing about.
You can apply that same steadfast focus to thoughts and memories that make you feel good.

Thank you for the nice review, I really appreciate it. As to the poem, thankfully I married a woman that taught me to find the peace I'd never had before. She literally saved my life.
Again, thank you for the review.
Again, thank you for the review.
Re. No More
A very well constructed poem. Try & work through the pain in order to overcome it.
Sometimes we've just gotta tell ourselves we're worth it, etc.
