I remember when poetry was my life
Poets wrote about their rises and falls
Their love and loss
It used to be about
The strife that carried a us from day to day
About how trust was earned
then
Deceit and lies
Took that all away
I remember when poets challenged each other
Oh the games we use to play we had
Haiku Play
Every day of the week
Just to keep us all In the poetic game
Tasty Tuesday's
Wet & wild Wednesday’s
Thirsty Thursday’s
Freaky Friday’s
We encouraged each other
No one was looking for
any type of credit or fame
You could freak The Scorpion Crew
chill in
Area 51
read
Tainted Pen’s
debate with
Time Bandits
or get turned on by
S.W.A.T.
Now that I think about
How did we ever
Get any work done
I remember when poetry
Was all about
The art form
The lyrics
The emotions
The words
The battles
The seduction
I guess
What I miss most is
The sharing of worlds
The mixing of emotions
With people who actually offered support and cared
I remember when poets
Had drama everyday
And it got all hashed out in very
Poetic ways
Chicks would get vexed over a poem
Then want to call you out
Cause they
THOUGHT
You got some (haha)
OMG! THE stories I could tell
Poet's and poetesses
keeping secrets
mixing their ink and body fluids
then they would run and tale!
All’s fair in love and poetry
Is what we use to say
This was our space
To laugh and consort
To get freaky, get nasty
Shit,
Kill someone
If that’s what you want
I remember when poetry
Was all I wanted to do
I ate it
drank it
slept it
lived it
Damn I miss GS

I felt the emotions and deep love you had for your old crew. I wished I got to read some of their work, but at least I get to read your beautiful poems. Once again, I really liked this poem

I think the good old days will always be such as we age. It seems to be the same in many walks of our life, e.g. - music, movies, hangouts, etc. Starting out in poetry is fun and we almost seem out of our league with the big dawgs; however, we settle in and become a big dawg ourselves and it all looks differently. I think it's called maturing, which is why so many artists of all genres say, Never grow up - and by god if you do, learn how to be a child again as quickly as you can.

yeahhh. i miss that place a lot too. I always thought as poetry as this 'one thing' but when i got there
i experienced so many flavors of poetry...vastly different writing styles. Made a lot of lasting connections and learned a great deal. I especially love the groups the challenges and the collabs. Sighhh...good times...good times..

YES!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! a GS old school head..... Gurrllllll GS days was the best... That was my safe haven, I met some wonderful people on that site and was on there for so many years until they shut down.... Gosh I miss those GS days.... You just brought me wayyyyy back.... No place like GS.... The poets and poetess just connected and yes the drama, the laughs, the friendships, the loses, the pieces written...
