Watching birds
I used to watch birds
And one day, I saw a pair of sparrows
Sitting on the window sill
They picked the corn and cheeped and whimpered
I used to watch birds
frolicing in the bird bath
grooming their feathers to impress each other
I used to watch birds
Building their nests in spring
In a tree so high no enemy could reach their fledglings
Until they were able to fly themselves.
I stopped watching birds
Beating their wings and soaring into the endless sky
Now my window is closed.
And one day, I saw a pair of sparrows

I used to watch birds
frolicing in the bird bath
grooming their feathers to impress each other
I used to watch birds
Building their nests in spring
In a tree so high no enemy could reach their fledglings
Until they were able to fly themselves.
I stopped watching birds
Beating their wings and soaring into the endless sky
Now my window is closed.
