The devil is i

At the bewitching hour, when the night is frozen.
All alone and broken.
Counting every one that hurt me
Pointing the finger at everyone.
Blaming my misery on someone.
Never really owning up.
It always has to be someone.
It's you, it's them.
But somewhere in me I know the devil is i.

Writing my list of targets.
Plotting my revenge.
Anything to deflect,
Responsibility away from myself.
Because it's always easy to put the burden on someone else.
Than carrying it by myself.
Building illusions.
Chasing after shadows.
Searching the empty skies.
Storming down Castle walls.
Looking for a villain to slay.
But somewhere in me I know the devil is i.
