Prom 2019
Everyone says 'God save the prom queen'
but they should actually say 'God save the prom committee'
when rules are bend, broken and not cared about,
things get to be different
no longer are the dresses classy and sweet, low cut and hardly any covering dresses
no longer it has it been like it was before, alcohol, weed and vaping are secretly invited
guys showing up with their Ex's little sister or splitting their pants open on the dance floor
people doing dares, wild dancing and who think life is all fun and games
that is your thing but its not everyone's thing.
stop judging the boy whos wait until marriage, the girl who has been though so many relationships, stop judging everyone, prom is suppose to be fun
now, for the one girl who doesn't know how to dance, or laugh at the proper jokes, for the girl who doesn't fit in with this crowd
just know that you are going to be OK,
standing at the back wall,
watching everything:
you don't have to be like them to have fun
you don't have to drink, vape or smoke
you don't need to know how to dance
you don't need to act like everyone's friend
it is just prom,
enjoy your self, and have your own fun
prom is fun!
get out there and try new things
try that new dance move, try talking to new people
just get out there and try

Went to prom last night and these were my observations of things that happened
it was a fun night for everyone and i can't wait until next year <3 this poem isn't really in any kind of form ...unless it counts as free form

Yes, it is exactly freeform.
It's obviously changed since the days of "sock hops" where songs like Jack And Diane or Darling Nikki were barred from the "turntable". Lord. But the sweaty palms and wallflowering will always remain a tradition.

haahha :) i totally agree with you, times have changed, but the memories will still be with us
