Thalassophile
I’ve always lived near the shoreline
grew up swimming in the sea
though I prefer Gaia’s Forests
Her oceans I hold an affinity
Collected empty seashells
danced upon hot sandy beaches
played in coral pocket wells
snorkeled to see how deep it is
I must be a hopeful romantic
lover who delights in salted seas
appreciates the calm & violent
oceans’ stormy personalities
Yes, i
almost always lived near
a seasoned waters' edge
played with hermit crabs
tried to catch jellyfishes
looked up from beneath
the water while it rained
saw sharks, eels and rays
got dark skinned on hot
fun sunny days
cooled myself beneath
Selene’s moonlit gaze
watching the tides roll
in and out meditatively
I’ve always loved the shoreline
grew up swimming in the sea
though I prefer Gaia’s Forests
Her oceans I hold an affinity

I used to live in south Scottsdale / Phoenix for nearly 7 years -- Wow! small world, eh?
I'd say it's about 10 degrees cooler here than up in Your neck of the sands.

Small world indeed! Even ten degrees cooler, I’m happy to know someone is finding their writing spark with me in this kind of heat! :D

I keep my thermostat at about 84 deg F
and so i feel a comfortable temp to be
spilling at.
I'm certain if You were here I'd be raising lowering the
temp to accommodate the extra Heat You would be
adding to the area -- LOL

as a Kid i grew up in Hawaii and while the temps were not like AZ they were around high 70's to high 80's and so Yeah, I'm OK with 84 - LOL
I prefer 60's to 70's but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for comfortable preferable temperatures and so
Yes, 84 will suffice ; )

I read the comments after the poem. Always entertaining. The poem...there's something magical about the ocean. So much love within it...much that we don't even know. The little bits that find their way to shore are like precious gifts. I felt the beauty of that in your words. Beautifully done. And on commentary...I lived in Phoenix for 2 years. Never thought I'd like desert zones but they have their own beauty. And the sunsets...ahhhhhh. I prefer the lush forests & mountains, myself. Perhaps because I like the feeling of being hidden...unseen in a world of wild beauty. And yet here I am...smack in the middle of the country...no forests or oceans or mountains for hours. Go figure

My family almost always lived near the ocean and probably because my dad was in the US Navy at the time. When i got out of the USAF i moved to San Diego and lived there for nearly 22 yrs. Maybe it was my upbringing and i wanted to be near the beach.
I still love Forested areas best and Hawaii has that and so the best of both worlds for me growing up there.
I love the desert and here in Green Valley, AZ there is a surprisingly variety of Birds. I like waking to the sounds of chirping vs traffic or school age kids screaming and their parents screaming which is what i had in Huntington Beach, CA.
I very much appreciate You sharing with me
and for the kind comments on my spill --
thank You
