Residual Trauma
Practicing compassion
each time we go in
an intrinsic gift
where we begin
Entering the unfathomed
weighted hands we hold
pulled into depths
of tragedies untold
Without judgement
empathy affirmed
validating anguish
fears acknowledged, confirmed
Vicarious pain
emotional exhaust
affording value to others
despite deepening cost
Not for gratification
nor prestige unearned
only in service
such efforts are concerned

Thank you dear friend. I do like a rhyme. Some think it is cliche but I like the structure and the challenge of using the rhyme while relating my idea. I appreciate the read and feedback:)
