Decision

If I had to choose
between the stars and the moon,
I would choose
to be the stars.
As wonderful as the moon can be at times,
It is still just going through phases.
The moon will never stay the same
and it always depends
on something else to make it shine
Because it has no light of its own.
Stars are locked in their constellations,
Never changing.
Always true.
Waiting patiently,
even when they are outshined
by the moon.
Once the phase passes
and the moon appears smaller and smaller - seemingly hiding behind shadows,
that twinkling star will be there.
Still shining,
Still steadfast in its own true self.
Never changing.
If a star burns out,
it is because
it has lived a long and beautiful life -
consuming itself
to light the way for others,
Yet the billions of stars left
Will carry on that legacy...
Always a light of hope
For the true mate of its soul...
