Flight

Tie a bow around a bough
knot placed just so - not now?
Instead; inside my head
enough blood has been shed
fearing the worst; I've fled
slip the jetty; take the prow
silently dip the oar
movement... I know not how
belligerent bellowing below
soft strokes swiftly shift me south
to a safer stretch I know
calmer waters away from ....
certain death; I pause, catch my breath
flies feed on my fears
swarm around my still wet tears
as I flee from hurt so near
must put distance to get clear
water cleanses my bloodied arms
chest, face and encrusted palms
seeking freedom from my torment
running blindly from their intent
finding solace in this lament
