To Take the Plunge
The ocean sings and swallows me,
enticing me with the gentle lull of the waves.
She sings of peace, of the cold still waters,
she draws me in with the mystery of the beyond.
The hideous beasts that lurk in her depths
they call for me to hold my breath
to join them in the far below,
to leave the shore and float away.
She promises me safer seas beneath,
free from the current and the reach of the waves.
Kicking and fighting to keep my head above water,
my muscles are so tired.
A fruitless effort,
there can only be one ending,
to hold my breath and take the plunge,
sinking away from the chaos of the surface,
into the gentle arms of the abyss.
enticing me with the gentle lull of the waves.
