Closing Books

Some times closing a good book
Brings sadness that it is finished
Books we close gently and fondly
They talk to us even after they close
And, in time we may re-open them
Reading again, from the beginning
Despite knowing the ending already

I don't believe in book burning
I still have a copy of Mein Kampf
Sitting uneasily in between the
Bible, the Satanic Bible and the Koran
On the same shelves sits Steinbeck
Poe, Shelly, Spike Milligan, Bukowski
I have very catholic tastes and needs
Currently reading Dr Jordan Petterson's
"12 Rules For Life" Can't put it down
And awesome and seriously helpful read
I'd go so far as saying it has started to
change my life for the better - That's a first!

Books can be closed in various ways
Gently lie saying goodbye to a friend
Fondly - 'missing you already.'
Firmly responding to a call for action
Positively when creativity is inspired
Tentatively your journal of contemplations
Harshly when angered by its contents
Forced when tears prevent you from reading
Fell shut when hilarious belly laughter ensues
Prematurely, when you think its crap

But:

Some books need to be slammed shut
Nailed down, erased and set on fire

Some books need that kind of closure
If I had a traditional family bible
I would and, now have closed it as such
Inspired by Dr Peterson my house
Will soon be in order and I will move on
Part of this process was seeking forgiveness
From family members for mistakes made
Almost like a biblical style repentance
I have now completed this task
With one exception who is uncontactable
With one exception, it has been
Hatefully spat back in my face
I can suffer this toxicity no longer

In my head, the family bible has been
Slammed shut, nailed down and burnt
I am changing my name
Moving without a leaving forwarding address
Incognito by habit and repute
The book of Family, erased
They have no way back
And they will feel regret
As karma comes calling

There is only one exception to this
One who was lead astray
And I am now proud to call him brother
We wronged each other
Never spoke for 32 years
Reconciliation achieved
I have nothing in my heart
But brotherly love
That is a new book
Still to be written

Author's Note
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing are Narscacistis and cannot and will not forgive any transgression. They are incapable of love despite pretence to everyone but their victims: Their victims surely know, they are the unforgiven and are made to suffer always
