Societal (In)Justice - (I) Rumor
It’s just idle chat between pals
Meaningless words, no big deal
A lighthearted moment
Silly, harmless fun, right?
Action etched in time
Impossible to unsay what was said
Can’t undo what was done
Spoken words do murder on repeat
The victim remains in agony, alive
Face corpse white, then asphyxiated red
You have no clue what you’ve done,
But you would soon enough, I fear

The first in the series of poems that speak of today's culture of 'cancellation' - starting with the questionable act itself. Kabbalistic thought is interwoven into the piece, as well.

I like the way you think, but it was actually neither. A famous musician was on a podcast with two hosts and they were just gossiping away. The musician quoted an insult that had been directed at them and accidentally said a slur. Folks on social media went crazy, insisting they be cancelled and demanding an apology.

some times people just jump too far off shore then realize that they are drowning and that the good things don't last as long as they'd like them too
