The Wireless

The news came over the wireless
Excitment as the voice broke the static
Days of turning the dial
Scanning, searching for a station, a signal

There is someone out there finally
Although distant in sound but,
A warmth filled the room, and rose to smile
Living became alive, became possible

Skipping across the tarmac
The wheels left the ground
Going to meet another voice, another soul
Feeling alone no more
