The Thunder Roared

The wind blew and the rain fell
Fast and heavy
The thunder roared
She didn't hear it
The lightning cracked loudly
In her dream, she was happy and young
She laughed as she listened to every word
Moving her head to every gesture
As she dreamt, the storm continued without a care
The rain tapped to a musical sound
All was lost to the lady inside of her dream
The dream ended as suddenly as the rain
Slowly, the events fell into place
Her laughter died, her smile went cold
As her tears fell and she began to sob
There was thunder in the distance
The woman awoke with a start
To the roaring thunder and the pounding of her heart.
